Jason Galanis is a businessman who made headlines after “Chrisley Knows Best” star Savannah Chrisley revealed that they are engaged and expecting their first child together.
Savannah, 29, confirmed the news during the October 27 episode of her podcast, “Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley.” Although she initially identified her fiancé only as Jason, People later confirmed that he is Galanis, 56.
The couple began dating in July 2025 and got engaged five months later. Before announcing their engagement, Savannah kept Galanis’ identity private for more than a year.
Galanis previously served time in federal prison for securities fraud before President Donald Trump commuted his sentence in March 2025.
Here’s what you need to know.
1. Jason Galanis Was Sentenced to Prison for Multiple Fraud Schemes
Galanis was sentenced to 189 months in federal prison in September 2020 after pleading guilty to his involvement in two securities fraud schemes.
According to The New York Times, the businessman was also ordered to pay nearly $162 million in forfeiture and restitution.
One of the schemes involved defrauding investors and a Native American tribal entity through the issuance of tribal bonds. Some of the money was used to purchase financial firms as part of a plan to create a larger company called Burnham Financial Group.
Acting U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss addressed the case when Galanis received his sentence.
“Jason Galanis orchestrated two multimillion-dollar fraud schemes, and hid behind a team of co-conspirators to conceal his involvement and defy an SEC ban,” Strauss said in a statement released by the United States Attorney’s Office.
“He and his codefendants engaged in market manipulation and the defrauding of shareholders, and they stole a large portion of the proceeds of tribal bonds that were intended to fund economic development projects. Now Jason Galanis has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term that reflects the magnitude and pervasiveness of his crimes.”
The office also noted that Galanis had received sentences in 2017 for two separate schemes, although those convictions were later vacated.
2. Galanis Had Business Ties to Hunter Biden Before President Trump Commuted His Sentence
Galanis previously worked with Hunter Biden and his business partner, Devon Archer.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Biden was listed as vice chairman of Burnham Financial Group, the company Galanis and his associates planned to establish through their financial acquisitions.
Biden was not charged or indicted in connection with the fraud schemes.
While serving his prison sentence, Galanis testified during the Republican impeachment inquiry into then-President Joe Biden in March 2024.
One year later, Trump commuted Galanis’ sentence in March 2025.
The decision came approximately two months before Trump pardoned Savannah’s parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, who had been serving prison sentences for financial crimes.
3. Jason Galanis Met Savannah Chrisley Through Politics Before They Started Dating
Savannah revealed that she met Galanis “in the world of politics” while working to secure her parents’ release from prison.
During her October 27 podcast episode, she explained that Galanis reached out shortly after Trump pardoned Todd and Julie on May 28, 2025.
“The first text that Jason sent me was, ‘Hey, Savannah, it’s just incredible what you did for your family. You never stopped. Fearless person. Congratulations,'” she recalled.
Savannah admitted that she waited nine days before responding to his June 1 message.
The two continued communicating and eventually began a romantic relationship in July 2025.
Savannah first acknowledged having a boyfriend during a May 2026 episode of her podcast but declined to reveal his identity.
“I am dating someone. I am extremely happy and extremely fulfilled in life,” she said.
“I feel like where I am at in life is the moment that I had always dreamt of but never thought was possible.”
At the time, Savannah told listeners that she planned to keep the relationship private.
“There will be a time when you find out about it,” she explained. “It may not be until after I’m married, but you will find out about it.”
4. Savannah Chrisley Defended Her 27-Year Age Gap With Galanis
Galanis is 27 years older than Savannah, an age difference she addressed when announcing their engagement.
The reality star said she doesn’t see their age gap as an obstacle to their relationship.
“I would rather 20 phenomenal, unbelievable years with someone than 50 just meh years,” Savannah said.
She also praised her fiancé’s appearance and personality.
“He doesn’t look his age, nor does he act his age. His body is great, his mind is even sharper. […] This person is the love of my life.”
Savannah previously called Galanis her “mystery man” while discussing their relationship on her podcast.
She also shared an Instagram post announcing their engagement and pregnancy.
“The past few years have taken me through fires I never imagined I’d have to walk through. […] I wondered if I would ever find my forever […] and then God sent me J,” she wrote.
“And just when I thought my heart couldn’t hold any more love, God gave us our sweetest blessing yet … we’re having a BABY!”
5. Jason Galanis Proposed in the Cayman Islands Before the Couple Announced Their Pregnancy
Galanis proposed to Savannah in December 2025, approximately five months after they started dating.
The couple was vacationing in the Cayman Islands, a destination Savannah described as their “happy place.”
Galanis worked with Genovese Jewelers to design the engagement ring before proposing on a beach during a day trip to Little Cayman.
“My ring is insane, and I love it, and it’s everything I ever wanted,” Savannah said during her podcast.
She described the proposal as “the most magical, amazing experience.”
The couple originally planned to marry in January 2027.
However, after learning they were expecting their first child together, Savannah and Galanis postponed their wedding until May 2027.
Savannah publicly confirmed both milestones on October 27, ending months of speculation about the man she had been dating.
