Police guard the access to an area in the historic center of Krakow, Poland, on November 7, 2026 where a gunman opened fire killing six people wounding around a dozen. Police said the shots had been fired in the afternoon from a car that rammed into the centre, before officers shot the perpetrator.

Michal Oksinski has been named by some Polish, Italian and U.S. media as the Krakow, Poland, mass shooting suspect, although some sites gave his name only as Michal O.

Fakt published the name of the suspect, as did the U.S. Sun. The gunman is accused of toting an AR-15 to the Krakow market square, where he gunned down six people and injuring 16. He was then shot and critically wounded by two police officers, who were also shot. The officers are being heralded as heroes; the shooting was captured in disturbing video. Authorities have not publicly confirmed the suspect’s full name, however.

According to LeMonde, he is a Polish national without a criminal history.

According to Fakt, police found Oksinski’s parents and adult sister dead at the family’s home in Poland after the mass shooting, although they’re not sure exactly when they were killed. They were shot.

Neighbors did not hear gunshots at the family’s home, Fakt reported. The suspect and his family lived in a Polish town called Ostrowiec.

According to CNA, the suspect is accused of having killed his father, 53, mother, 52, and sister, 21, by shooting them in the head while they slept. His sister “lived and studied in Krakow at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts” and had returned home for the weekend, that site reported.

2. Michal Oksinski Is Accused of Holding ‘Ultra-Nationalist’ Views, But Unconfirmed Social Media Reports Indicate a More Complicated Ideological Picture

Repubblica, which is an Italian-language site, reported that Oksinski is 24 years old.

What was his motive? The suspect “held ultra-nationalist views. He used to go to a shooting range every Sunday,” according to Repubblica. Interior Minister Marcin Kierwinski said at a press conference that investigators believe he was “an ultra-nationalist” inspired by “far-right ideologies,” but the information “still needs to be fully verified,” according to L’Unione Sarda.

According to Israel National News, Oksinki’s possible social media accounts included a mixture of issues and stances and may point to a more complicated and possibly even contradictory ideological picture than has been reported so far. The Internet is also full of screenshots of purported Facebook and Telegram pages and photos that may show the suspect. Those screenshots also paint a different ideological picture. However, that information has not been confirmed publicly by authorities or any credible news sites, so the full picture of the suspect’s ideology and politics remains under investigation and not fully clear.

Kanal Zero, a Polish YouTube channel, described him as “someone who frequently dressed unusually, wore masks, and painted his fingernails black.”

“The Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime joined the investigation to examine reports in the media and on social media about possible links to radical groups,” LeMonde reported.

3. Michal Oksinski Was Armed With an AR-15 & Wearing Full Tactical Gear, Reports Say

Oksinski drove to the market square in a black Subaru and began randomly shooting people.

According to Israel National News, he was toting an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle and “wearing tactical clothing.” Videos show him in tactical gear, including a bulletproof vest, after being shot by police officers.

The shooting broke out around 3 p.m. His vehicle was loaded with more firearms and ammunition, Israel National News reported.

4. The Krakow Suspect Worked as a Machinist/Mechanic

According to Israel National News, the suspect was a machinist who had no military background.

5. The Gunman Is Accused of Drawing Graphic & Disturbing Pictures in Class

According to L’Unione Sarda, an Italian-language site, reports emerged that the suspect “often drew pictures of people hanging or armed during class.”

“And when we asked him about it, he said it was an attack on a school and that he was the assailant,” alleged a person who knew him.

“Often on Sundays, while I was busy in the kitchen, I would see a man, a father and his son, getting into a car, both dressed in camouflage, carrying bags. But I never imagined that those bags could presumably contain weapons,” a neighbor of the family told TVN24, according to L’Unione Sarda. “I didn’t have the slightest suspicion that my neighbor could turn out to be a torturer, a murderer. I had no such suspicion,” he added.
