Indianapolis Fever star Caitlin Clark knows she’s a role model for young girls all over the world. Now, she’s using her platform to inspire confidence in all of them.

In a new interview with PEOPLE, the WNBA star revealed the mirror in her childhood bedroom helped her aspire to achieve great things.

“It’s a super personal thing for me,” Clark told the outlet. “My parents still have it up there. They still live in the same house, so a lot of it speaks to my story and the way I was raised.”

However, it’s not just any ordinary mirror. Caitlin Clark’s parents had the item custom-made before she was even born.

At the top, the mirror reads, “The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the little EXTRA.”

The sides of the mirror contain positive affirmations for the user to tell themselves: “Know Love,” “Celebrate,” “Cherish Family,” “Eat Chocolate,” “Believe and Pray,” “Smile,” “Learn Lots,” “Watch Sunsets,” “Set Goals,” “Spa Day,” and “Show Courage.”

Even after all these years, Caitlin Clark admits those little notes filled her with tremendous confidence.

“It was a mirror I looked in every single day, and it’s just always been a great reminder,” she told the outlet.

Before Caitlin Clark was the sports superstar she is today, she was just a child with a dream. The little messages on the mirror helped get her through difficult days.

“If there’s a tough day, [it offers] a little extra love, or probably one of my favorite parts of the mirror is the ‘Eat Chocolate’ part,” Clark joked in the interview. “I have the biggest sweet tooth in the world, so maybe the mirror played into that a little bit.”

“I think it just speaks to the way I was raised and it was just a good reminder of some of the most important things in your life. And a lot of that deserves extra care and that’s just how I lived growing up,” the 24-year-old added.

The mirror remains one of her most treasured possessions, and she hopes to pass it on to her own children someday.

“EXTRAordinary! A Little EXTRA to Reach BIG Dreams” by Caitlin Clark is now available to order.
