Did Milwaukee Brewers star Christian Yelich really get a black eye at the team’s celebration?

He said he did! But he’s going to be okay and, by all accounts, he and the rest of the Brewers had a great time celebrating the team’s historic victory at a parade and rally. The parade snaked through downtown Milwaukee on October 30, 2026, and through throngs of crowds before ending at the Summerfest grounds for a rally.

“Yelich said he got a black eye from trophy,” blared a headline on WBAY-TV, a Green Bay, WI, television station.

“We’ve had way too many parade beers,” Yelich said at the rally. See Yelich’s comments on video from the rally.

The Brewers brought their celebration trophy to the parade and carried it around to show fans.

“I took the trophy to the face, got a black eye. It’s all worth it. It’s for you guys. We should celebrate forever,” Yelich said at the rally, according to ESPN.

It’s not surprising that the players got a bit exuberant, matching the passion of fans. The fans in Milwaukee have waited 44 years for a World Championship for the Brewers, and they came close in 1982 only to have the ultimate victory snatched away. This time, the team was on a dominant course from the start of the Series, giving up only a single game (and a close one at that) to the Tampa Bay Rays. Yelich has long been a fan favorite in Milwaukee.

Other Brewers players even stripped off their shirts in homage to the “tarps off” trend that has swept baseball stadiums since 2025.
