President Donald Trump has broken his silence as votes continue to roll in in the consequential Midterm elections. Trump, 80, took to Truth Social to seemingly distance himself from the results.
Trump Breaks Silence
“I wasn’t on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE!” the sitting president shared on Tuesday, November 3. “Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
Trump’s post comes as Democrats took control of the House and potentially the Senate as a Blue Wave flooded the country.
The President’s remarks are a stark contrast after weeks of encouraging Republicans to “pretend” his name was on the ballot.
“In this election, I’m asking you to pretend, please, that I’m on the ballot. Just pretend,” he urged at a Kansas rally last month.
Despite his attempts to distance himself from results that are unfavorable to his presidency, followers voiced their concern about the first half of his second term.
“President Trump and all due respect it’s the economy and the Iranian War which you mishandled it should have been done within 30 to 60 days,” one follower commented.
“Not what candidates or your supporters want to hear from you,” another wrote.
Midterm Results (So Far)
The 2026 midterm elections are shaping up to be a major setback for Trump and Republicans, with Democrats scoring a series of stunning victories as they regain control of Congress.
Democrats have flipped four Republican-held Senate seats, including major upsets in Texas, South Carolina, Ohio and North Carolina. In Texas, Democrat James Talarico defeated Republican Ken Paxton, while Annie Andrews pulled off a surprise victory over Darline Graham in South Carolina. In Ohio, former Sen. Sherrod Brown defeated incumbent Republican Jon Husted. Democrat Roy Cooper also won North Carolina, marking another major pickup for the party.
The results represent a significant rebuke of Trump’s second-term agenda, with voter frustration over inflation, the cost of living and government corruption emerging as major factors.
