Two members of the Milwaukee Brewers championship team showed up on Saturday Night Live alongside a blustery character called Drunk Uncle. Christian Yelich and Brice Turang were joined by Coach Pat Murphy for the surprise appearance.
“Drunk Uncle (Bobby Moynihan) stops by Weekend Update to discuss the Milwaukee Brewers’ 2026 World Series win,” Saturday Night Live wrote, sharing the segment on YouTube.
The character started out the skit by making politicized jokes. “I’ve been drinking since the night they won and also for the last 57 years before that,” said the Drunk Uncle. He showed up on the set with a large mug of beer. “I miss the days when men were men,” joked Drunk Uncle. The character also riffed on voter fraud, Helen of Troy and the WNBA. He started crying at one point. “Maybe this was all a dream,” he said.
And that’s when the Brewers appeared.
Christian Yelich Told the ‘Drunk Uncle’ That ‘It Wasn’t a Dream’
Yelich and Turang then paraded into the skit, with Turang carrying the team’s World Championship trophy, the first in the franchise’s history. The team defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 to win the World Series and celebrated with a parade and rally in downtown Milwaukee.
“Don’t worry Drunk Uncle. It wasn’t a dream,” Brewers captain Christian Yelich told the Drunk Uncle.
“And we have something in common Drunk Uncle. We also have been drinking since Wednesday,” said player Brice Turang. The players were indeed spotted drinking beer during the parade, with some of them even taking their shirts off as a play on a “tarps off” trend that swept ballparks.
Milwaukee Brewers Manager Pat Murphy Also Joked Around With the ‘Drunk Uncle’
Brewers manager Pat Murphy also joined the Drunk Uncle on stage.
“And I’m the manager. And that’s kind of like being the Drunk Uncle of the team,” Murphy said.
“Hey, I know you. You’re Pete Davidson, right?” the Drunk Uncle character asked Yelich.
“A team named the Brewers turning up in a Drunk Uncle sketch feels less like casting and more like destiny,” a fan responded to the video on X. “It is wonderful for all the players and the fans they deserve it! So glad Milwaukee Brewers World Series Champions!” wrote another person.
“You’re Pete Davidson right? Killed me. We always called him Pete Davidson,” another person wrote about the Yelich joke.
According to MLB.com, it’s not the first Milwaukee Brewer appearance on SNL. “Brewers radio broadcaster Bob Uecker hosted episode two of season 10 on Oct. 13, 1984, when he was known for his Miller Lite ads and regular appearances on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson,” according to MLB.com. Sadly, Uecker passed away before the team realized its dream of winning a World Series, but he was constantly on the minds of teams and fans.
