The Powerball jacket continues to climb after no ticket matched all six numbers in the latest drawing, leaving players with another chance to win life-changing money.
The jackpot is now an estimated $674 million ahead of the next drawing on Saturday, October 24, according to lottery officials. The prize has an estimated cash value of $238.9 million for a winner who opts for the lump-sum prize instead of an annuity.
Wednesday night’s drawing, held October 21, did produce several other winners.
Winning Numbers for October 21
The winning numbers for Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing were 1, 21, 44, 50, and 57, with the red Powerball number 5. The Power Play multiplier was 2X.
Although no ticket matched all six numbers to claim the jackpot, some players still walked away with a significant prize. According to the official Powerball website, tickets matching all five white balls along with the Power Play multiplier won $2 million in Ohio and Pennsylvania. A ticket matching the five white balls without the multiplier won $1 million in New Jersey.
The jackpot has continued growing since August 12, when a ticket sold in Illinois won an estimated $1.04 billion prize. That win marked one of the largest jackpots in Powerball history.
For anyone hoping to join the next round of winners, it’s worth remembering that the odds of matching all six numbers and winning the jackpot are approximately 1 in 292.2 million, according to lottery officials.
When Is the Next Powerball Drawing?
Drawings take place three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, and are streamed live on the official Powerball website. The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, at 10:59 p.m. ET.
Tickets cost $2 per play and are available in 45 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The $674 million jackpot represents the annuity option, paid out in 30 graduated payments over 29 years. Winners who prefer to receive their prize in one payment can choose the cash option.
