Screen legend Michael Douglas gave fans an update about Jack Nicholson.
“I would have liked to have acted with Jack,” Douglas said, according to Variety. “He’s not working anymore. He’s well. He has disappeared. I know that.” Douglas made the comments at an event while promoting his memoir, “One Helluva Ride,” Variety reported.
However, Douglas stressed that Nicholson was doing okay and indicated he prefers a relaxing lifestyle out of the spotlight. Both actors are in their 80s. Douglas is 82 years old. Nicholson is 89 years old, so it’s understandable if he’s decided to take a step back out of the spotlight.
Michael Douglas Says That Jack Nicholson Is ‘Walking Around in His Slippers’
In the comments, Douglas made it clear that Nicholson is padding around in slippers but otherwise doing fine.
He continued: “I still see him, but he is fine. He is up there by his house and walking around in his slippers. It happens. He deserves it. I understand. He is a few years older than me, but I understand.”
The Shining and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest actor hasn’t starred in a movie since 2010’s How Do You Know. According to People, Douglas has been friends with Nicholson since Douglas produced Nicholson’s classic movie, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
Douglas made the remarks at an event for his book in Swansea, Wales.

Fans Have Seen Glimpses of Jack Nicholson Through His Daughter Lorraine’s Instagram Page
Fans have been treated to periodic glimpses of Nicholson via posts on his daughter Lorraine’s Instagram page.
For example, she posted a photo showing her with Nicholson in 2025.
“The giving season,” she titled the January 2, 2025, post, which shows her with Nicholson in a home with book shelf – and Academy Award statutes – displayed behind them. She also shared a photo showing Nicholson on his 89th birthday in April 2026.
Lorraine is one of Nicholson’s six kids. According to People, he had the kids with five different women. His oldest child, Jennifer, was born to his first wife, Sandra Knight, whom he divorced in 1968.
He had son Caleb Goddard with his Five Easy Pieces costar Susan Anspach, and daughter Honey Hollman with Winnie Hollman, People reported. Lorraine and his son Ray are his kids with actress Rebecca Broussard. After that breakup, he had daughter Tessa Gourin with Jennine Gourin.
