Celebrities are often spotted courtside, cheering on their favorite sports teams, and the New York Knicks are no exception. Some of the team’s most recognizable celebrity supporters include Spike Lee, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, and Timothée Chalamet, who has also been known to support his hometown team.
Singer Taylor Swift has also made appearances at Knicks games, including during the team’s 2026 playoff run. She was memorably spotted alongside her husband, Travis Kelce, during Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers. She also showed off her team spirit during Game 4 of the NBA Finals, sporting a blue shirt with “Stevie Knicks” written across in orange lettering.
Despite her appearances and support for the team during its championship run, one Knicks player isn’t convinced she’s a true fan.
NY Knicks Point Guard Tyler Kolek Names Taylor Swift the ‘Fakest’ Fan

New York Knicks point guard Tyler Kolek took part in a NBA 2K TikTok livestream alongside his teammate Deuce McBride where they were asked the question: “Who is the fakest celebrity Knicks fan?”
Kolek didn’t hold back, calling the celebrity “performative” and accusing them of wanting to be “seen at the game” before naming Taylor Swift.
“At the Knicks games, I would say it’s very performative. Because they just want to be seen at the game. They’re not necessarily fans. Maybe Taylor Swift,” Kolek shared (via the NY Post). “I don’t know if I’ve seen her at any other games. I guess she has a lot going on so she can’t come all the time. But it’s a little performative.” Kolek’s teammate, McBride, also agreed.
The two teammates also agreed that Swift’s diehard fans, known as “Swifties” would not like their answer, wiht Kolek adding, “I’m going to get some hate from the Swifties.”
McBride then went on to share the celebrities that he believes are core Knicks fans, naming stars like Tracey Morgan and Ben Stiller.
Swift Shared Her Love for the NY Knicks Back in 2014

Kolek and McBride may not have been reading up on their Swift history with the Knicks because she’s apparently been a fan for over 10 years now. When the “Patient Zero” songstress spoke to Time Magazine in 2014, she confirmed she was a Knicks fan after moving to the Big Apple.
During her interview, when Swift was asked why she was such a big fan despite the team not playing well at the time, she shared, “I love them, though. Why does that matter?” She even went on to share her connection and friendship with Knicks player Amar’e Stoudemire, and his wife, Alexis.
“And also I performed at the Knicks’—at Madison Square Garden’s—Kids Talent Competition at halftime when I was 12 or 13. And ever since then I’ve had this kind of sparkly, magical opinion of Madison Square Garden and the Knicks, since they let me sing when I was a little kid,” she also noted.
