Apple customers who qualify for a payout have just a few months left to file a claim in the company’s multi-million settlement over allegations that it misled consumers about Siri’s Apple Intelligence features.

While Apple denies that it did anything wrong, the company has agreed to pay $250 million into a settlement fund.

“The $250 million settlement fund represents the largest false advertising settlement in history,” Ryan Clarkson, co-lead counsel on the class-action lawsuit and founder and managing partner of Clarkson Law Firm, told CBS News in September.

Who qualifies for a payout, how much could they receive, and what steps are needed to claim the money?

The proposed settlement in Landsheft v. Apple Inc. applies to eligible U.S. customers who purchased an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16-series model between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025.

The consumer must also certify that, at the time of purchase, they expected to receive a Siri Apple Intelligence feature and did not receive it.

To be considered for compensation, customers must submit their claims through the official Smartphone AI Settlement website or have them postmarked by December 21, 2026.

Applicants may need to provide their device’s serial number or the email address associated with their Apple Account to verify their eligibility.

Those who received a settlement notice can also use the Claim ID and PIN provided in the notice, although receiving one is not required to submit a claim.

The person filing the claim must have originally purchased the phone for personal or business use, not for resale.

In addition, consumers can receive only one payment per eligible device. Those who purchased more than one qualifying iPhone must submit a separate claim form for each device.

Eligible customers can choose from several payment methods, including PayPal, Venmo, direct deposit, or a check mailed to their address.

Qualified customers who successfully submit a valid claim form will initially get $25 per eligible device. The payment could increase to as much as $95 per device or decrease depending on the “total number of valid claims submitted and other factors,” the claims website says.

A federal court in San Jose, California, is scheduled to hold a hearing on February 24, 2027, to determine whether to grant final approval to the settlement. Any appeals could further delay payments to eligible customers.

“If there is no appeal, your settlement benefit will be processed promptly,” according to the website.
