Sean “Diddy” Combs could be leaving federal prison earlier than previously expected after his projected release date was moved up by more than three weeks.
The Bureau of Prisons now lists Feb. 6, 2028, as the music mogul’s expected release date, according to TMZ. That is earlier than the March 2 date listed last month.
Combs’ projected release date has changed several times. Previous dates included Jan. 21, Feb. 5 and Feb. 20, adding to the uncertainty surrounding when he will complete his sentence.
The latest adjustment comes after Combs was transferred from Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix in New Jersey to FCI Allenwood in Pennsylvania.
Reports Detail Combs’ Life Behind Bars
Combs’ time at Fort Dix attracted attention following reports about alleged special treatment and rule violations.
NBC News previously reported that the music executive had access to a contraband cellphone, which sources claimed he used to view nude photographs of a former girlfriend. The outlet also spoke with anonymous sources who described inmates performing personal tasks for Combs, including making his bed, doing his laundry and preparing meals.
The report alleged that Combs received massages and had other inmates clean his bathroom before he used it. Sources also described meals such as curry chicken, pizza, and empanadas.
One anonymous source characterized the alleged arrangements as unusual for a federal prison, saying, “This is not some normal s*** you see in jail. This is some rich s***. It looks crazy, but again, it’s Diddy.”
NBC News also reported allegations that Combs received antidepressants from other inmates and had access to high-end liquor allegedly brought into the facility by guards. One inmate claimed to have shared Hennessy with the rapper, saying, “Hell yeah, I drank with him.”
According to the report, Combs allegedly put thousands of dollars into other inmates’ commissary accounts, with assistance from people outside the prison.
Combs’ Representative Responds to Prison Reports
Combs’ representative, Juda Engelmayer, pushed back against the attention surrounding his client’s incarceration.
“The continued scrutiny of every mundane detail of Sean Combs’s life in prison has reached the point where the media characterizes ordinary prison life as news. The only real news is that Sean continues to serve his sentence within the rules and he patiently awaits the court’s decision on his appeal,” Engelmayer told TMZ.
Combs also faced disciplinary scrutiny while at Fort Dix. Reports said he was placed in solitary confinement over alleged rule violations involving fights and contraband cellphones.
His transfer to Allenwood followed the reports about his time at the New Jersey facility.
Why Combs Is in Prison
Combs was convicted in 2025 on two counts of violating the Mann Act, which prohibits transporting people across state lines for prostitution. The jury acquitted him of the more serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking.
A judge sentenced him to 50 months in federal prison.
Although the Bureau of Prisons now lists Feb. 6, 2028, as his projected release date, that date could change again. Combs is also awaiting a decision on his appeal, according to his representative.
